Tax Manager

Damore, Hamric & Schneider, Inc. is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the Tax Manager position. The ideal applicant will successfully manage multiple tax engagements and meet with clients on a regular basis. They will lead the tax and accounting departments and oversee administrative staff. The Tax Manager will devote time and resources to research complex tax issues, answer clients’ questions in a timely manner, and follow up with staff to ensure project deadlines are being met. They will be responsible for preparing and reviewing both simple and complex tax returns, and assist clients in tax planning and projections. The Tax Manager will have opportunities to grow in their career, work alongside the managing principal, and support the development of the firm.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with prospective clients, evaluate their tax situation and create a customized plan that will suit their needs.
  • Effectively communicate with existing clients, team members, and management to discuss the status of projects and any issues or concerns.
  • Prepare and review individual, trust, non-profit, and business tax returns and assist with tax planning.
  • Review accounting financial statements
  • Provide training for new hires, which will include reviewing and evaluating their work on a regular basis.
  • Offer support and structure to the tax and administrative departments to organize the workflow and establish best practices.
  • Generate invoices based on staff WIP in a timely manner.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Prepare documents for submission to the IRS or other governing entities and handle POAs on behalf of clients.

 

Job Requirements:

Required

  • 6 years of tax and accounting experience in a CPA firm - a must.
  • Holds an active CPA license.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of prioritization and attention to detail.
  • Interested in long term professional growth and development within the firm.

Preferred.

  • Driven to have impeccable customer-service. Proactive in seeking out new clients and excellent at following up with current clients.
  • Research-oriented. Enjoys the process of learning more about tax and desires to give the most accurate information to clients and staff.
  • Experience with the following software: Lacerte, QuickBooks, and Office Tools.

Tax Senior

Full service CPA firm in Sacramento is looking for an experienced Tax Senior to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for the right applicant to pursue career growth with a clear path to management while still maintaining a great work life balance compared to the larger firms in the region. The Tax Senior is expected to perform most tax procedures with minimal supervision and work well with the tax team through completion of the engagements. The right candidate will be able to assist the accounting and audit departments when needed, work at client locations, and put in the hours required to get assignments completed.  Our firm offers great work-life balance, competitive benefits (including a flexible schedule) and a family-friendly work environment.  Salary dependent on experience.

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Accounting; Master’s in Taxation preferred
  • 3-6 years’ experience in a tax role in public accounting
  • CPA license required

  • Conduct tax research, experience with Checkpoint is a plus
  • Preparation of compiled financial statements

  • Assist partners and manager in resolving client needs in a timely, efficient and professional manner

Audit Senior

Full service CPA firm in Sacramento is looking for an experienced Audit Senior to join our team. The Audit Senior is expected to perform most audit procedures with supervision and work well with the audit team through completion of the assignment.  The right candidate will be able to assist the accounting and tax departments when needed, work at client locations, and put in the hours required to get assignments completed.  Our firm offers great work-life balance, competitive benefits (including a flexible schedule) and a family-friendly work environment.  Salary dependent on experience.

  • 2-5 years’ experience in an audit role in public accounting
  • Working towards obtaining a CPA license if not already completed
  • Strong computer skills, proficient Microsoft Office Applications; experience with CS Engagement and PPC SMART Practice Aids is a plus
  • Technical ability reflective of experience
  • Self-motivated and ability to work within a team framework
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Non-profit and governmental experience is a plus
